Day 20

I seem to have not stitched for ages so yesterday I sat down in the studio and started my icon. It was so lovely to just stitch.

Day 20

Also, a reminder that I will be at the Craft and Quilt fair in Hamilton next week, its open Thurs to Sunday from 10 - 4.30 and I will be there stitching all day for the 4 days. I have drawn on a new design to stitch while I am there, all long and short. I will have a display of some of my work too. I think I am going to take a pile and change it each day. Come along and say hi if you are there. I will have the frame with the faces on and my 100 spiders form last year.

I thought I would try to be a bit more abstract today.

This creature has 8 eyes, four on the front and four on the back.

Day 14 and a visitor to the studio!

Another one line face today.

Over the last few days I have had a few visitors to the studio, tiny baby praying mantis. My daughter found a collection of eggs on an ornament in her bedroom and moved it into the studio because she didn't want it to hatch in her room, well it has hatched, I have seen about 10 of these tiny monsters, not sure how many there are!

This is a close up photo, the fabric he is sitting on is calico, not an evenweave.

Friday 11 July 2014

1/100 days

Today is day one of the 100 days project. I am stitching a face every day and my son is doing a drawing of a made up animal every day. I will post both here.

Wednesday 9 July 2014

a week of preparing

I seem to have spent the last few days preparing for things.

The 100 day project starts of Friday, I have decided to stitch all my faces so I have prepared my fabric. Looks like a huge number of squares to fill!!

Also I have framed up and drawn on a new piece of work. I have recently met an amazing team of people who paint traditional Icons. We are planning on working together on some future projects so I am stitching an icon so they can see how they will look stitched. This is Saint Clare who is the patron saint of needle workers. She will have a long and short face and a goldwork halo.

And on Sunday I am off to New Plymouth to teach at the Embroiderers guild conference. 3 Days of working with faces and a 1 day children's class. Yet again no room in the suitcase for clothes, thank goodness for hand luggage! Maybe I need a bigger suitcase, or take less stuff!
