More Yarn bombing

Saturday is the Helensville show, a great fun day with animals to see, games to play, lots of stands doing all kinds of stuff. Also there is an indoor section with vegetables, flowers, jam making, baking and craft.
Tonight my family yarn bombed the outside of the shed that holds the indoor section, the idea being to bring the indoor section outside! A handful of knitters in Helensville have been knitting for a couple of months so we have a pretty good show.

We already have a home for the knitting after this weekend but that is top secret. I will post pictures when the knitting is in its permanent home.

Knitting and Jelly

My family have had a wonderful crafty weekend. It is our local A & P show next weekend so my children are busy making things to enter in the indoor section and I am knitting like crazy as I am going to do some yarn bombing of the show grounds. I have a few people around Helensville knitting as well so we should have a good display.
In the middle of all that our grapes are ripe so I decided to make some Grape and Pinot noir jelly. I made some last year and it is really lovely, the best bit is that it only takes 2 cups of Pinot noir so I can drink the last glass left in the bottle!

The tree is getting pretty busy.

More of the tree

Leaves and berries today.

A Cup Full of Love

Every year on Valentines day I make a heart for Kit, I try to do something different each year, sometimes its hard but this year I had the idea of making 3D hearts and putting them in a tea cup to make a cup full of love. And it only cost me 50 cents for the tea cup from the op shop!

Skull in magazine

I have a project in the latest Down Under Textiles. I stitched this Day of the Dead skull for them at the end of last year but couldn't show it to anyone until it was published, the magazine is out now so here it is.
There are step by step instructions in the magazine, it was really good practice for the book.

drawing for fun

I was thinking over the weekend what I would do this year for the 100 day project, I came up with an idea to draw a tree with leaves and flowers and creatures in it, adding a small amount each day. I then decided I didn't need to wait until the 100 days project started and I could just do it right now! so here is day one, today for no other reason apart from fun! I will spend a tiny amount of time drawing a tiny part of a picture.

Photo shoot

I had a small photo shoot in the studio yesterday playing with ideas for photos for my book.
Kit was the photographer and we were trying to get some shots of me stitching with the mess of the studio on show! I did tidy a little bit! I had to make room for Kit to get in!
He took this great image of me threading my needle, I love it. We will see if it makes it into the book.

A great day out

We had a great day stitching in public yesterday. The weather had been wet but we didn't get wet at all which was lucky.
We started with a short sit in a lovely park in central Auckland, once the Art gallery opened we had a couple of hours there. Lots of people looking at us from a far and a few were very brave and came and had a look at what we were doing.
We then moved into Queen street and discovered that there was a Fan Zone for a rugby competition set up in a square so we decided to stitch in the Fan Zone. Lots of interesting people to watch and a few came over and said Hi which was great.
My 2 friends stitching in the Rugby Nines Fan Zone.

Hopefully this will become a yearly event with small groups of people stitching all over the country.
